The Trust are saddened to hear that Stephen Robinson has left the club but feel that the decision was for the best.
Stephen was a promising appointment as manager. He worked tirelessly for the Club and has always shown passion and enthusiasm for his role. He was also very open and honest with the fans and did not avoid awkward questions and issues at the recent Fans Forum.
We also acknowledge that he had a very difficult job from the start and was always playing catch-up after inheriting a senior squad of 5 players. The current transfer embargo and lack of available funding are issues which were entirely outside of his control and these issues have prevented him from strengthening the squad.
Stephen has also had to deal with some unacceptable criticism and threats to his family, and has acted with grace and dignity throughout his short time as manager at Oldham.
He deserves to do well in the game. We all wish him every success in his future career.
As one manager leaves, another returns.
We welcome John Sheridan back to the club. We all hope that we will have a re-run of John’s successes last season. But whatever happens in the league, we would encourage the club to give John its full support in all footballing matters to allow him to succeed.
